1. Describe the stasis in the play: where, when, who, what, etc. in a paragraph.
Queen's Garden is the narrative of the life of Brenda Aoki. It involves Brenda, her family, a guy she dates name Kali, his mother (Aunti Mary), and friend of Kali's (Smoke), Sherry and Hai (classmates of Brenda), and eventually Dreamer (Sherry and Smoke's son). This play goes through the course of her life. One of the key places in the story is the garden of Aunti Mary. This is where Brenda meets Kali and the death of the Ohana occurred.
2. What is the intrusion?
I believe the intrusion of the play occurs when Brenda and Kali go to school and realize the difference between them. I originally wanted to say that it was when Brenda and Kali meet. However Brenda's personality/ view on life only really started changing after that first class. That is when Brenda found out she was special and started slowly disconnecting herself from the Westside. Her and Kali relationship also kind of shifted. Sherry was then introduced to Smoke as well once Sherry met Kali in the class. The class is also where Brenda met Hai.
3. What is the unique factor?
This is the day that Brenda tells her life story. She tells the events that led up to that moment in her life.
4. What is the dramatic question that should be answered by the end of the play?
I believe there may be a few dramatic questions throughout this play. But they question I think is what will happen when Kali and Smoke finally meet again? (Of course this is answered and we are given an outcome). The other question could be, Will Brenda ever return to the Westside for good.
5. Provide an illustration of the two kinds of exposition that the play has in it.

6. Identify the most theatrical moment in the play and of what importance it seems to be.
I believe the moment that Kali and Smoke meet for the first time is a theatrical moment. It cause a spiral of actions to occur after they meet for the last time. So many people die after they meet for the last time.
I also believe when he son kills Aunti Mary that that is a theatrical moment. Aunti Mary is basically a grandmother to the boy and I believe that in that moment, everything ended. There was no hope.
7. List some of the themes of the play.

8. What do the narrator want and what are some obstacles that stand in the way of her getting what she wants?
The narrator basically doesn't want a connection to the Westside. However any time she comes in contact with Kali, she has to embrace it. Kali is the Westside. So the only way she will truly get rid of the Westside is when she completely gets rid of Kali.
9. Describe some possible images in the play and how does the title help us understand the play.
I think the garden plays a significant role in this play. The garden is where it all began and ended. I also think water is significant for Kali and Brenda. That's where they always go for clarity and peace. That's where they go to know how much they mean to each other.
10. Briefly define the family relationships that are examined in the play.
Family plays a major role in this play. In this play family is Ohana. You never fight or leave your family according to Aunti Mary. Brenda is constantly trying to leave the Westside, which is basically her family. Aunti Mary and Kali became Smoke's family. Smoke ends up betraying Kali and Kali betrays him. The fight ed to the demise of the Ohana that had once been so close. Brenda can't really connect with her family, because she doesn't really identify with them. She becomes family with Hali and Sherry because she felt more of a connection with them rather than her own family.
